It seems Florence had quite an effect on Jonathan Anderson, who staged his SS18 collection in the balmy heat of the Villa La Pietra’s Baroque gardens. Most were expecting floor-length sleeves, gender challenging androgyny and conceptual quirkiness. Instead, the romance of Florence rubbed off on Anderson, with love hearts providing a playful update on classics like the Crew Neck Sweater and Perfecto Biker. The Warholian streak didn’t end with the Pop Art prints, Anderson riffed on American branding, co-opting Coca-cola logos to add his signature eccentricity without compromising the everyday wearability of his SS18 offer.
